Thank You for a Remarkable Congress

Bringing together over 8 800 delegates, the 79th Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences was a resounding success. Over 8 days, delegates from Canada and around the world gathered at Montreal’s Concordia University to share ideas, explore new research areas and advance knowledge in a rich spectrum of humanities and social sciences disciplines. From theatre, literature and education to history, sociology and political sciences, Congress proved to be a unique showcase of Canadian scholarly excellence, creativity, and leadership.

On behalf of the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences, I would like to extend our warmest thanks to the Concordia community for providing Congress-goers with a remarkable bilingual experience and stimulating exposure to your amazing research that included Branché: the Concordia connection, Espace recherche, Human Rights Day and the film festival Montréal à l’écran, just to name a few. The Federation particularly wishes to thank Concordia’s superb staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure a world-class event and warmly welcome all delegates.

Missed some of the Big Thinking lectures? Interested in finding more about other exciting Congress moments? Visit Experience Congress, which offers videos and podcasts, articles on innovative research and social media capability, in addition to links to a selection of articles and mentions about Congress and humanities and social sciences research in the Canadian and international media.

The Federation team is already planning the next Congress, which will be hosted by the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University, from May 28 to June 5, 2011. Thank you Concordia for a remarkable experience and we look forward to seeing you all in Fredericton next year.
